Choose the right way to sell

There are three main paths for Australian sellers. Each has pros and cons depending on your timeline and patience.

Private sales

This involves listing on classified sites. While you might get a higher price, it requires significant effort. You must manage enquiries, host test drives with strangers, and handle the final payment security yourself.

Dealership trade-ins

Trade-ins are convenient if you are buying a new car from the same yard. However, the offer is often lower than market value because the dealer needs to cover their overheads and profit margins.

Selling to a dedicated car buying service

For those who value time and security, this is the gold standard. It removes the guesswork and ensures you get paid immediately without the risks of private transactions.

How to use the Carma process

When you think, "I want to sell my car with zero stress," Carma is the answer. We have refined the experience into a simple, four-step journey designed for the modern Australian driver.

1. Get an online valuation

The journey begins at home by getting a valuation online. We use real-time market data to provide a fair and accurate offer. This gives you a clear starting point without any commitment.

2. Book an appointment

Once you have your initial figure, it is time to meet the team. You can book an appointment at a Sell To Carma Centre. We have convenient locations across Greater Sydney, making it easy to fit the sale into your busy schedule.

3. We verify your car’s condition

When you arrive at the centre, our experts perform a quick, professional assessment. We verify your car’s condition to ensure everything matches the details provided online. This step ensures transparency for both parties.

4. Get paid on the spot

After the assessment, we provide an updated offer based on the physical inspection. If you choose to proceed, the sale is finalised immediately. You get paid on the spot, and we take care of the heavy lifting.

Why "I want to sell my car" starts with transparency

The Australian used car market can be volatile. Prices fluctuate based on fuel costs, supply chain issues, and seasonal demand. To get the best result, you need a partner who understands these variables.

Market-driven pricing

Generic price guides often fail to account for specific local demand in Sydney. A professional service uses live data to ensure your valuation reflects what the car is actually worth today, not what it was worth six months ago.

Safety and security

Private sales carry inherent risks. Inviting strangers to your home or sharing bank details online can be dangerous. Selling through an established centre provides a secure environment and guaranteed payment.

Common mistakes to avoid

Avoid these pitfalls to ensure you don't lose money or time during the sale.

• Ignoring minor repairs: small dents or cracked lights can lead to large price deductions.
• Inaccurate descriptions: being dishonest about the car's history will only lead to issues when we verify your car’s condition.
• Waiting too long: cars are depreciating assets. If you have decided "I want to sell my car," acting sooner rather than later usually results in a better price.
• Forgetting the PPSR: ensure there is no outstanding finance on the car. If there is, have the payout letter ready.
