Subaru Outback models: what’s included
Whether you’re buying a new or used Subaru Outback, you’ll find many choices with either a petrol or diesel engine. Here’s an overview of the range:
Subaru Outback petrol range
There are four petrol models with two engine types between them. The 2.5i AWD, 2.5i-X AWD, 2.5i Premium AWD are all fitted with the 2.5L four-cylinder petrol engine, and 3.6R AWD with a 3.6L six-cylinder petrol engine. Standard equipment includes electronic parking brake, rear reversing camera, anti-lock braking system, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, 18-inch alloy wheels, a full size spare wheel, rear mud guards, rear privacy glass, black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, paddle shifters, power tailgate, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bluetooth connectivity and more. Going up the range you’ll get a leather seat trim, premium speakers, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, electric sunroof, and keyless entry and start.
The 2.5L Boxer engines offer improved handling, with a well-tuned drive. If you’re looking for more power, choose the 3.6R AWD model for a more torquey engine and full equipment. Subaru’s SI-Drive is exclusive to the Subaru Outback petrol range, which allows you to switch between sport mode or intelligent mode, a more fuel efficient drive option.
Subaru Outback turbo diesel range
The 2.0D AWD and 2.0D Premium AWD models are diesel only, with a 2.0L turbocharged Boxer 4-cylinder diesel engine and CVT (with manual mode). Standard equipment is similar to the petrol range, with key features like electric sunroof, heated front seats, leather seat trim, keyless start and entry, blind spot monitoring only available on the 2.0D Premium model. The turbo diesel engine offers great fuel economy, readily providing the power you need to conquer hills, and is comfortably quiet as well.
Is a used Subaru Outback safe?
The Subaru Outback is among the safest cars on the road. All variants within the range have secured maximum 5-star ANCAP ratings, with Subaru’s intuitive safety features like rear view camera, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and pre-collision braking system. Drivers and passengers are also protected by passive safety features like a ring-shaped passenger safety cell, SRS airbags throughout the cabin, rear door child locks, and five child seat anchors are also available in the rear.
What are the benefits of buying a used Subaru Outback?
Used cars typically cost less than new ones, meaning you can save money by opting for a used Subaru Outback. The initial drop in value of a new car is also avoided here, which is great especially if you plan to sell or trade in your used Subaru Outback down the line. For the same budget of buying a new car, you’ll usually also be able to get a used Subaru Outback that has higher specs or trim, or even with extra accessories as well. You’ll get a reliable SUV without breaking the bank, and enjoy the same fantastic features and capabilities on a used Subaru Outback.
